Sometimes Extreme Actions Are Needed

I saw Jolie's post about The Box of Death. I understand that the wizards worry that I may be corrupted again by the dead magic. After all, I still possess a bit of dead magic inside me. I, too, worry about the potential. Still, I have taken steps to minimize the likelihood, and that is all I can do.

I also fully understand Nikko's concern for his wizards and the need to trust in them in the coming battle to protect the natural world. We have quite a job ahead of us, and I fully plan to be there, side by side with the wizards of light magic. I have rediscovered my humanity, I have turned down the Sprites' offer of power, and I have no intention of letting the dead magic become the overlord of the natural world.

Still, I suspect that some extreme actions may be needed in the coming days and weeks. Malo is a cold and vicious wizard. He is willing to do whatever it takes to retrieve the final fragment of the Box of Death. And sometimes, the wizards of light magic may lack the stomach to fight fire with fire (please pardon the reference to your particular type of magic, Nikko). And I do not lack the stomach for extreme actions. I spent five hundred years as the wizard of dead magic. I learned how to think and act nihilistically. Though I am trying to turn over a new leaf, I will do whatever it takes to stop Malo from using the Box of Death - even if that means returning to some of my former tactics.

We've Got a Job to Do

So, I read what Jolie wrote about me worrying a bit too much about her and her sisters, and I suppose I have to plead guilty. When I found them, they were so young, and quite frankly, I was new at this whole Teacher and Protector thing. I've been around for more than a hundred and fifty years, and yet those three girls were starting with nothing. They hadn't mastered a single spell, and their sparks were so weak.

They've come a long way since those days, but quite frankly, that doesn't keep me from worrying about them. They have a lot of potential, and I've already mentioned that I can't help thinking that they have a destiny to fulfill. And it's my job to make sure they fulfill it!

And that becomes a double-edged sword for me. On the one hand, I want to protect them, to keep them safe, to ensure they have a chance to fulfill their destiny. On the other hand, I know that to become strong enough to fulfill whatever destiny is in store for them, they're going to have to meet challenges head on. I can't protect them, no matter what I might want to believe. The stakes have been raised too much. Malo is on the verge of opening a portal between the Realm of Dead Magic and the natural world. He could soon unleash the power to bring about armageddon for everyone who lives in our world. And that might bring about an eternity of darkness and chaos. The only way to stop him is to trust in myself and the power of the three wizards. It's going to take everything we have to put an end to this threat.

I'm Not Looking Forward To This Whole Box of Death Thing

So, we're trying to stop Malo from finding the final fragment of the Box of Death. Yeah, and we need to find the next Wizard of Lightning before Malo does. Oh, and we might be doing all of this without any help from our Sentinel friends. But, at least we've got Balthazar, unless, of course, he gets corrupted by dead magic again.

So, there you have it. We've got a lot going on, and quite frankly, I'm not looking forward to it all that much. We barely managed to end a zombie invasion that had taken over most of North America. And if we fail in our next quest, the entire world will probably be overrun with a whole lot worse than just a bazillion zombies.

Does that sound like good times to you? It might, because you're just gonna sit there and read about it. You don't actually have to live through it. Heck, I'm not even sure I'm gonna live through it. I wonder if Nikko worries about that? I'm sure he does, he worries about everything. Sometimes, he's so protective of us that it gets to the point of being a bit obsessive.

But I'm pretty sure we're about to have a bit too much going on for him to be too protective. After all, it's our job to protect the natural world, and even if he worries about us, he's going to make sure we do our job.

What's Going to Happen to the Sentinels?

In our quest to stop Malo from transforming the natural world into a zombie wonderland, we met some really cool normals who provided a lot of help. I know Nikko already talked about Michael and Jennifer McCoy and how they're a part of this group called the Sentinels that has been around for quite a long time. I really grew to like them, but I gotta say, I'm a little worried about them.

You see, the Sentinels are led by this nasty old woman named Agatha Marks. Members of the Sentinels take some stupid oath that prohibits them from getting involved in the war between the wizards. They're just supposed to sit around and observe what happens, jotting things down into the Chronicles (some big old book or something).

Anyway, Agatha Marks was really mad that Michael and Jennifer, along with a few others, had gotten involved in our battle as we tried to stop Malo's zombie invasion. She told Michael that if we won, he and all of his friends who helped us would be punished. I don't know what that means, but I hope she doesn't plan on throwing them out of her little group. We could certainly use their help as we try to stop Malo from finding the Box of Death.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens to them.
