Let's Not Forget the Golems

So, according to Balthazar, we've got a lot to handle with Dr. Bones' huskwalkers. But we have an added problem: golems. Apparently, Malo has summoned some creatures from the Realm of Dead Magic that are going to help him locate the Box of Death. According to what I've been able to learn in the Hall of Wizards, there are three golems, creatures that can serve as seekers to assist a Wizard of Dead Magic in locating powerful magical artifacts.

One golem is an enormously large creature made of onyx. The second golem is a bird-like flying creature. And the third is a swift, leopard-like golem. Each of them is powerful, and they will be difficult to defeat.

Between Dr. Bones, the husk walkers, and the golems - not to mention Malo himself - it looks like we're going to have our hands full. Hopefully, we'll be up to the challenge. I'm going to have to put my worries aside and trust that between the Three Wizards, Balthazar, our Sentinel allies, and me, we're going to have what it takes to save the natural world. Hopefully, the fairies will provide some unique insights that can assist us - though I wouldn't be willing to stake my life on that.

Ugh! Huskwalkers

If you've begun reading The Box of Death, you probably know that we've had the joy of encountering some husk walkers. Let me say that among all the wonderful creatures we could encounter, I would rank husk walkers among the top two or three creatures I would choose to avoid.

Husk walkers are powerful creatures who come to the natural world and take control of the bodies of the deceased. They wear the deceased's skin as their own, and they can access that dead person's memories - all of them. A Wizard of Dead Magic does not possess the spark necessary to summon them. No, they are so powerful that only one Lord of the Dead has that power:  Dr. Bones.

Dr. Bones is a very special (and by special, I mean deadly) Lord of the Dead. When it comes to most of the lords, their power comes in terms of their battle prowess or their control over their minion. But Dr. Bones does not possess minions of his own. Instead, magic is his power, and he wields it much more proficiently than any other Lord of the Dead.

You might be asking what makes a husk walker so powerful? Well, the short answer is that it is impossible to destroy one. When you add the fact that they have unbelievable strength and quickness, we have ourselves a problem.

Hopefully, Nikko can consult the fairies of light magic and identify a way for us to defeat them. If not, we may be in trouble.

Thank You, Reece!

Thank you, Reece! I needed to read your post. I was getting all depressed about The Box of Death. Jolie and Nikko had me worried sick about our chances of survival. Balthazar had me concerned that he was going to end up doing something so extreme that he might end up as our enemy again.

But you...for once you actually said something that sounded rather upbeat and optimistic. I have to admit it sounds a bit naive after reading the posts made by the others. But still, I hope you're right! I think a lot of things can happen as we try to keep Malo from finding the final fragment of the Box of Death - and not all of that stuff has to be bad. We've gotten lucky before, things have worked out for us, and I'm sure things will work out for us again.

At least I hope so! Oh boy, now I'm getting worried again. It would be really nice if something would happen pretty quickly that would give us a bit more hope...

The Next Wizard of Lightning is the Wild Card

All this doom and gloom posted by Jolie, Nikko, and Balthazar is really getting me down. Sure, things look like they could end up pretty bad for us. But things looked that way when Malo had used Jhophes to create an entire zombie army that overran most of North America. And while The Box of Death has the potential to be way worse than that, everyone has left out one important wild card in all this.

And that would be the next Wizard of Lightning. I've already mentioned why we need to find this person before Malo. But what I didn't say was that perhaps this person can really help us turn the tide in our quest to keep the Box of Death from ever being used.

You're probably asking yourself: What will one more wizard do for us? It's hard to explain, and I'm not sure I really can. I just have this sense that the next Wizard of Lightning has the potential to play an important role in the battle to come. Maybe that's just me being dumb - or maybe it's because I'm the one carrying around the Hammer of Lightning. I get a sense that this artifact is going to be important - I'm just not sure why.

I'd ask the fairies, but I'm sure they won't tell me anything right now. They tend to keep secrets from us until they decide we're ready to hear those secrets. Ugh! Well, right now, I guess I've got no choice but to be optimistic, because it sounds like nobody else is.
