He Is Right to Be Worried

Nikko is right to be worried about the upcoming battle. This will be a rather unique test. None of us has ever fought so many powerful creatures at one time in a battle of this magnitude with such high stakes.

And for the new Wizard Darius - I certainly do not envy his trial by fire. His first real experience will come in the form of a cataclysmic battle for the future of the natural world. He will certainly be learning his own limitations on the job.

And the normals - people without any sort of magical powers at all - they will be putting their lives on the line in all this. I am quite surprised by their bravery and character. Who would have thought they would so eagerly help us defend the natural world against such a threat?

And what will happen to me? I have an odd feeling about this. I am supposed to play some sort of role in things to come, but what role will it be? Will I become a savior for the natural world, or will my actions ultimately condemn the world to a darker future? Will I be able to live to tell about my role, or will it be one that requires the ultimate sacrifice from me? I suppose I will simply have to wait and see what destiny is in store for me. You would think that after more than five hundred years, I would be used to this sort of thing.

It's Almost Showtime

Let's do a rundown of what we needed to locate the final fragment of The Box of Death:

1. Learn the locations of our physical connection points - Check
2. Learn the location of the dead magic's connection point - Check
3. Find the new Wizard of Lightning - Check
4. Get him trained - Check

And that means, we should be about ready to move. We're going to need a plan once we get wherever it is we're going. While we might find that fragment before Malo ever gets close, I would rather not assume our better luck than we've ever had before. No, instead, I think it would be wise to assume we're going to have to fight for that final fragment. We need to be ready to defend against anything Malo might throw at us.

And that begs the question of just how ready everyone is for this. I worry about Summer, Jolie, and Reece, and what might happen to them during this battle. I worry about the safety of Balthazar, and what his future holds. I worry about Darius, who will have a trial by fire in the battle to come. And I worry about the Sentinels, the normals who will be fighting alongside us to try and protect the natural world.

There's a lot at stake here, and an awful lot could go wrong. And if it does, we could be in some serious trouble...

Darius Has Arrived

Guess what? Darius is finally ready to fight with us against Malo! He apparently had to beg Zhephyrus to let him out of the Realm of Lightning, but even still, at least he's here. I have no idea how well trained he is, how powerful his spark has grown, or what sort of spells he can cast. What I do know is that he carries one really big golden battle axe and wields it like it's nobody's business.

And now I guess we're ready to go touch those physical connection points and locate the final fragment of The Box of Death. Everything is going to come to a head pretty soon, and we have got to be ready for it.

I'll admit, I'm more than a little bit nervous about this. We need to stop Malo, but with the powerful creatures he has fighting on his side, this is gonna be way worse than Taxco. Zombies were at least pretty easy to kill. Sure, we had to deal with Jhophes and Skree, but they're nothing compared to three golems, Dr. Bones, and Mastema. And if Malo finds that last piece before we do, we might end up having to fight even more powerful creatures than that. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this goes well.

Where's Darius?

Zhephyrus needs to hurry up and train the new Wizard of Lightning. We're ready to go locate the physical connection points so we can find the final fragment of The Box of Death.

But we're missing the one wizard who can allow that to happen!

I know he hasn't had much time to learn how to use magic, but we don't have forever. His training has got to be over with soon. Otherwise, there won't be a natural world left for him to help protect. He's gonna come back here to find a new Realm of Dead Magic - and no matter how well trained he is, he isn't going to survive in that world for very long.

Reece keeps telling me to give him more time, but he's about out of time. Between Nikko worrying about failing the natural world, Balthazar worrying about his destiny, and Summer's general sense of anxiety about the impending battle, I'm about to go crazy. If Darius doesn't show up soon, we may have to figure out an alternative plan - except I don't think such a plan exists.
